Understanding Mechanical Coverage: Roadside Assistance

Roadside Assistance helps when a covered vehicle becomes disabled and cannot be safely driven. If an issue happens while the vehicle is on the road, this benefit can help arrange services to get the vehicle moving again or safely transported. Roadside Assistance is included with mechanical coverage and cannot be purchased separately.

What Roadside Assistance Helps With

Roadside Assistance may be used when a vehicle cannot continue operating due to a mechanical issue or common roadside problem.

Typical situations include:

  • Towing – Transporting the vehicle to a repair facility if it cannot be driven
  • Battery jump-start – If the battery is dead or the vehicle will not start
  • Flat tire assistance – Help replacing a flat tire with the vehicle’s spare
  • Lockout service – Assistance accessing the vehicle if keys are locked inside
  • Fuel delivery – Bringing fuel if the vehicle runs out of gas
  • Winching – Pulling the vehicle out if it becomes stuck in mud, sand, or snow and is safely accessible

Service availability may depend on the location of the vehicle and local provider availability.

Coverage Limits

Roadside Assistance services are subject to the following limit:

    • Up to $125 per roadside assistance event
  • Up to $500 for roadside assistance during the length of the contract
  • $0 deductible

This means the service provider can be paid directly up to the coverage limit for eligible roadside assistance services.

Financial Responsibility of the Host

The policyholder (the Turo host) may still be responsible for certain costs.

Hosts may need to pay for:

  • The cost that exceeds $125 for a roadside assistance event

Important Limitations

Roadside Assistance may not apply in certain situations.

Service may be unavailable if:

  • The vehicle location is unsafe or inaccessible for service providers
  • Specialized recovery equipment is required

Roadside Assistance does not cover:

  • Routine maintenance
  • Mechanical repairs performed on-site
  • Cosmetic issues
  • Damage caused by accidents or environmental events

If the vehicle requires repairs, the repair process will follow the standard mechanical coverage claims procedure.
