What happens to my coverage if a vehicle is snoozed, unlisted or restricted?

Off-trip insurance covers your vehicle when it is not on a Turo trip but is still being used for your Turo business: parked between bookings, on the way to meet a guest, or out for cleaning, fuel or maintenance.

The most important thing to know

A snoozed, unlisted or restricted vehicle stays on your policy and you keep paying for it. Nothing removes it automatically when its Turo status changes.

If you have taken a car off Turo and do not want to keep paying for it, remove it from your policy yourself.

To do so, simply open Off-Trip Insurance, click Edit coverages, and set that vehicle to no coverage. Otherwise it keeps being billed every month.

How long a vehicle can be inactive

The program terms set two thresholds:

  • Beyond 30 days of inactivity on Turo, a claim may be subject to review.
  • Beyond 120 days of inactivity, coverage may be cancelled or a claim denied.

Neither is automatic.

A short snooze while you take a car in for repairs is normal and is not a problem on its own.

If you take a vehicle off your policy

Two things follow, and they catch people out:

  • You cannot always add it back straight away. If Turo shows the vehicle as both unlisted and restricted, our eligibility check will block it. Sort the listing out on Turo first, and our nightly sync will pick it up.
  • Coverage restarts from the day you add it back. It is not backdated, so the vehicle is uninsured off-trip for the gap in between.
