Off-trip Insurance Deductible Options Explained

Making decisions about your insurance coverage options isn’t always straightforward. It’s great to have lots of options when it comes to your off-trip coverage but it means you have choices to make.

What Deductible Options are Available?

Let’s start with the basics. We'll soon have three deductible options available with off-trip insurance powered by Tint

Available Deductibles & Who They Are Best Suited For

$1,000 Deductible:

This will be the lowest deductible option offered by Tint. It is ideally suited for hosts that fall into two categories. The first category is hosts who are looking for a low deductible to save out-of-pocket costs and don’t mind paying a little extra each month. The second category is hosts that have financed their vehicles and have deductible requirements they need to meet to satisfy their bank or a lender.

$2,500 Deductible:

This is the mid-range option and is suitable for hosts who want to balance their monthly payment amount with the risk of having to pay out of pocket later on if something unexpected happens. It’s a great option if you don’t have lender requirements that specify a different deductible and are looking to keep your monthly payments lower.

$5,000 Deductible:

This is the highest deductible option and is designed for hosts that have vehicles over $50,000 in value. If your vehicle is more than $50,000 in value, this is the only current option for your off-trip insurance coverage.

Where Coverage & Deductibles Meet

Choosing the best deductible isn’t the only choice you’ll have to make when it comes to selecting off-trip coverage (options are a great thing!). You’ll also have coverage options to select. You can choose Comprehensive & Collision Insurance coverage and/or Liability Insurance coverage. Deductibles do not apply to Liability coverage but do apply to Comprehensive & Collision coverage.

The chart below helps break down the deductible options you’ll have for each coverage level and the car's True Market Value (TMV).

Coverage Type $1k Deductible $2.5k Deductible $5k Deductible
Liability Only N/A N/A N/A

Liability + Comprehensive & Collision

Available for cars with a TMV less than $50k

Available for cars with a TMV less than $50k

Available for cars with a TMV less than $50k

This means, if your car’s True Market Value (TMV) is under $50,000 you’ll be able to choose between the $1,000 and $2,500 deductible options for Comprehensive & Collision coverage. If your car's TMV is above $50,000 you’ll be on the $5,000 deductible plan.
