What do I need to qualify for off-trip insurance?
What you need as a host
- At least three vehicles listed and active on Turo, and at least three enrolled with us.
- Anyone driving an insured vehicle must be 21 or over.
- Your vehicles must be used on Turo only. The program does not cover vehicles rented out on other platforms or privately.
What makes an individual vehicle ineligible
A vehicle cannot be covered if any of these apply:
- It is both unlisted and restricted on Turo. Either one on its own is fine. Both together is not.
- It is registered or garaged in New York or Kentucky. We do not offer coverage in those two states.
- It is a Polaris, Can-Am or Vanderhall.
- There is an active insurance moratorium on its ZIP code. These are temporary and usually follow a weather event.
Your vehicle also has to meet Turo's own listing rules, which cover age, mileage, value, title status and open safety recalls. If Turo will not list it, we cannot cover it.

Telematics
Connecting a telematics provider is optional. You do not have to connect your vehicles, and not connecting them does not affect your coverage.
What it affects is your price. Every vehicle starts on the telematics rate and has 60 days to connect, counted from the day that vehicle joins your policy rather than from the day your policy starts. If a vehicle is still not connected after 60 days, the premium for that vehicle goes up. Connecting it later brings the price back down.
This is per vehicle, so a connected car keeps the lower rate whatever the rest of your fleet does
If your vehicle count looks wrong
We take your fleet from Turo, and a newly listed vehicle can take up to 48 hours to appear.
If you already have a policy, you can add the vehicle yourself. Open Off-Trip Insurance, go to the Fleet tab, and use manually add it here. Coverage starts straight away. The vehicle needs to match an active Turo listing within 15 days, so this works when the listing already exists or is about to.
If you are getting a quote and vehicles are missing from it, wait the 48 hours. If they are still missing after that, email support@tint.ai with the VINs rather than waiting longer, and we will look into it.
