What happens if I don't connect a GPS provider during my grace period?
Your grace period
Every vehicle gets 60 days to connect to an approved telematics provider, counted from the day it is added to your policy. The grace period is per vehicle, not per policy, so each car has its own deadline.
You do not have to work the date out. Open Off-Trip Insurance, then the Fleet tab, and click a vehicle. If it is not connected, the Connect telematics card at the top of the vehicle page tells you how many days are left, for example "Connect an approved provider within 58 days to keep this vehicle on the telematics plan rate."
What happens when the 60 days run out
If a vehicle is still not connected, it moves to the non-telematics plan.
- Your coverage does not change. The vehicle stays insured, stays on your policy, and keeps the same deductible.
- The price goes up. The non-telematics plan costs more, because we can no longer see how the vehicle is being used.
- The change is immediate. The vehicle moves to the higher rate that day, not at your next renewal.
- Only that vehicle is affected. Your other vehicles keep the telematics rate as long as they stay connected.
The non-telematics plan is available on all deductible options, so you do not need to change your deductible to stay covered.
How to avoid it
Connect the vehicle before its 60 days are up. The steps are in this article, and the Telematics tab lists every provider you can use.

If you have a device already installed and the portal still shows the vehicle as not connected, open that vehicle and use Mark as connected on the Connect telematics card. Do not wait for the countdown to run out.

If a vehicle has already moved to the non-telematics plan
You can connect it at any time. Once we start receiving data, the vehicle returns to the telematics rate straight away, and you are credited for the part of the month it was on the higher rate.
Checking where you stand
- The Fleet tab shows every vehicle as Connected or Not connected.
- The coverage summary on that page shows how many of your covered vehicles are connected.
- The Telematics tab warns you when any vehicle is still outstanding.
