How do I connect my PassTime devices to Tint?

PassTime offers reliable GPS tracking with additional features like remote alerts, trip history, and device health insights. If you're not yet using PassTime and want to learn more, visit www.passtimegps.com.

Tint has approved some of the PassTime devices data connections for telematics insurance plan. Follow the steps below based on your situation.

If you're a new user and ready to get started, begin here:

🔁 Already Have a Passtime Device on Turo’s Account?

If your device is already tied to the Turo Passtime account, simply email 📧 turo@passtimegps.com to inform PassTime you want your devices on your Turo account to be linked to Tint account 101268.

Please, make sure to include your VIN and device serial number to ensure proper linking.


🔄 Want to Transfer a Device from ABI or Another Passtime Account?

If you’re transferring devices to the Tint account from ABI or another Passtime account other than Turo account::

💡 Note:

  • Hosts must set up a payment method before the transfer is completed. PassTime will provide a link once you request transfer. 
  • Host must provide the following information with all transfer request:
    • Name and account number you are transferring from
    • First and last name on your account
    • Email address (if your Tint email address is different from the account you are transferring from, email transfer request from your account email)
    • Business or Billing address
    • Phone number
    • List of ALL devices you are transferring – must be listed in email.  Do not send screenshots of device serial numbers or vin #s.
  • $20 transfer fee per device applies for all NEW transfers and includes new account set up and 1 device transfer
  • $10 transfer fee for all devices after the initial set up

Key Transfer Details for Hosts with Existing PassTime Accounts:

  • All device transfers from an existing PassTime account (such as ABI, HyreCar) must be transferred to Tint’s PassTime account #101268.
    • Does NOT apply to if your PassTime account is under Turo account #59704
  • Transfer Fee:There is a $20.00 transfer fee for initial set up and 1 device transfer, which covers the cost of additional Trip-Start and Trip-End data.
    • After initial set up, cost to transfer devices is $10.00 1-time fee which covers the cost of additional Trip-Start and Trip-End data
  • This process is specifically for clients with devices already registered in PassTime systems.
  • The transfer fee ensures complete functionality and data tracking for each transferred device and is a 1-time cost. 

🔧 How to Make Sure Your Device Is Sending Data to Tint

Once your device is assigned to a vehicle:

  1. Log into your Passtime account
  2. Search for the vehicle and select it
  3. View the device details
  4. Ensure the VIN is entered and correct
  5. If needed, update the vehicle's state and click Update to make changes

📦 Passtime Device Overview

🔌 TRAX OBD (Wired, Behind Dash)

  • Not plug-and-play; must be hidden under the dash
  • Does not require wire splicing
  • Can be installed by a vehicle owner with general mechanical experience

⚙️ TRAX (Hard-Wired)

  • Allows optional starter interrupt (kill switch)
  • Installation recommended by a certified technician
  • Especially important for Push-to-Start, Hybrid, or EV vehicles
