Step-by-Step: Getting Set Up
1. Install and activate your Trackhawk device
-
Follow Trackhawk’s installation guide to connect wiring correctly:
-
Red → Power (V+)
-
Black → Ground (V−)
-
Orange → ACC (ignition)
-
Yellow → Relay/fuel cut (optional kill switch)
-
-
Mount with GPS antenna facing the sky (under dash or windshield).
-
Confirm device is powered and has cellular/GPS signal.
2. Connecting via Trackhawk
Once your Trackhawk device is installed and active, complete the connection in your Tint portal:
-
Go to the Car Data Sync page in your Tint dashboard
-
Click “Connect via Trackhawk”
-
Sign in to your Trackhawk account (if not already signed in)
-
The system will automatically authorize Tint and redirect you back to the Tint portal
-
You’ll see a success message confirming the link
-
Vehicles will show as “Connected” once Tint begins receiving data
-
This usually happens after the vehicles have been driven again
-
ℹ️ No additional steps are needed after authorization and seeing your status as "Connected" — Tint will automatically update the vehicle’s connection status as data comes in.
Reminders
-
✅ Device must be connected and transmitting data to Tint
-
✅ Must complete the connection within 60 days of adding a vehicle to the policy
-
✅ Data sharing authorization is required (handled during connection)
Even if your device is installed, you’re not eligible for telematics pricing until the connection is confirmed in the portal.
