If your vehicle has moved to another state, follow these steps to ensure compliance with Tint’s policy requirements:
Important Information
- Mobilitas will always report the insurance to the DMV of the state where the vehicle is registered on Turo.
- If the vehicle is not located at the state address listed on Turo, you will be notified by us that we could not report that VIN to the state.
- If there is an update or the address on Turo is incorrect and you need to report to another state, make sure to check this information.
1. Register the Vehicle in the New State
Start by registering your vehicle’s license plate with the local DMV in the new state. This step is essential for transferring your insurance coverage.
2. Submit the Required Form
Once the license plate is registered, submit the necessary details using the form available at this link: Vehicle Transfer Form.
3. Wait for Insurance Reporting
After you submit the form, our insurer, Mobilitas, will report your vehicle’s insurance information to the DMV in the new state.
Please note that this reporting process occurs once a week, so the transfer may take some time to complete.
4. Be Aware of Price Adjustments
Tint policies apply T1 rates to all states except:
- Massachusetts
- Maryland
- Michigan
- Washington, D.C.
These four are considered T2 states and are subject to different rates. If your vehicle moves between a T1 state and a T2 state, your policy price will be updated in the next billing cycle.
5. Excluded States
Tint does not cover vehicles located in New York (NY) or Kentucky (KY).
- If a vehicle is moved to either of these states, the policy for that vehicle will be canceled.
