Unlimited Mileage for All Off-Trip Insurance Plans

Turo hosts enrolled in any Off-Trip Insurance plan—whether telematics or non-telematics—now enjoy unlimited mileage for all covered vehicles.

This update simplifies billing, eliminates overage tracking, and helps hosts like you focus on managing your business, not your odometer.

What’s Changing

The chart below looks at plan type and updates to mileage.

Plan Type

Previous Policy

New Policy

Telematics

Mileage tracked via GPS; FlexMiles pooled across fleet

Unlimited miles — FlexMiles discontinued

Non-telematics

Already unlimited mileage

No change

Key Benefits of Unlimited Mileage

  • No more mileage overage charges
  • No need to track or pool miles
  • Simpler, more predictable monthly billing
  • Same coverage, more flexibility

What This Means for Telematics Plan Hosts

If you're on a telematics-enabled plan, you previously had a mileage allowance and could use FlexMiles to share unused miles across vehicles. That feature is now retired.

With unlimited mileage:

  • You won’t be charged for driving over a set mileage amount
  • You no longer need to monitor mileage usage across vehicles
  • You can still benefit from real-time tracking, theft protection, and other telematics features specific to your approved provider

What This Means for Non-Telematics Plan Hosts

If you're already on the non-telematics plan, your coverage already includes unlimited mileage, so you’ll see no changes.

Choosing Between Telematics and Non-Telematics Plans

Mileage is no longer a factor in choosing a plan. If you would like to take advantage of lower insurance rates by connecting to an approved telematics provider, you can use the following as examples of features that may be helpful when selecting a provider.

  • Vehicle tracking
  • Theft recovery support
  • Physical device/installation
  • Data & insights
  • Remote access

Tip: Think about what’s best for your vehicle’s security, your operating preferences, and your budget. Mileage won’t impact your monthly costs anymore. If you’d like to review approved telematics providers, please refer to this list.

Important Note: Business Use Still Required

Even though mileage is unlimited, usage must still be business-related. Here’s what qualifies:

Examples of covered business-related travel:

  • Driving to/from a Turo trip drop-off or pickup
  • Getting a car washed
  • Driving to a repair or maintenance shop
  • Moving a vehicle to a parking lot or storage facility
  • Filling up with gas for an upcoming trip

Examples of non-covered personal use (not allowed):

  • Taking a vehicle on a personal vacation
  • Running personal errands (e.g., groceries, movies)
  • Driving family or friends around
  • Going for recreational drives

*Misuse of vehicles for personal trips can lead to policy denial and removal from the off-trip insurance program.
