What To Expect At the End of Your Grace Period
As your GPS grace period comes to an end, you’ll no longer be able to stay on the telematics plan without an approved GPS solution. Any cars that do not have an approved provider connected will automatically be moved to a non-telematics solution.
This change will occur in the following ways:
-
The switch will occur on your grace period end date and be effective immediately. Your card will be charged the next day for coverage at the new higher rate.
If you would like to remain on the telematics plan and avoid a change in your monthly premium, please be sure to connect each car to an approved device.
Key Non-Telematics Plan Benefits to Consider
This plan has some great benefits for Turo hosts. Here’s the top reasons we think you should get excited about the non-telematics plan:
-
Unlimited miles: the non-telematics quoted price comes with unlimited miles. This opens doors for a lot of hosts that live in rural areas, have to travel great distances to the airport, or like to play it safe and avoid potential surcharges. If you are switched to a non-telematics plan, you’ll get this benefit instantly.
-
Available for all deductible options: whether you have the $1k deductible, the $2.5k deductible, or the $5k deductible we have you covered. This means that regardless of your car’s value or lienholder status, your deductible will not change if you are switched to a non-telematics plan.
-
No added monthly expenses: If you are switched to the non-telematics plan, you do not have to calculate any additional potential monthly costs from a GPS provider or for mileage surcharges.

Where You Can See Vehicle Level Plan Information
Let’s first start with where you can see if a car is connected to a GPS provider. You’ll need to log in to the Tint portal, navigate to “car management”, you’ll then be able to see each car’s connection status including “connected”, “connection lost”, and “not connected”.
Now it’s time to look at where you can see whether a vehicle is switched to non-telematics. You will be able to toggle your plan view and see cars on the telematics plan -or- on the non-telematics plan from the “Car Management” page. You’ll also be able to see if a switch you initiate is in progress. In the image below, you can see that we are viewing cars on the “Non-telematics plan.” Cars that are pending a switch back to the telematics plan will show as “Pending switch to telematics.”
