Your renewal is as important to us as it is to you. That’s why we’ve compiled this guide that’s jam-packed with information about what’s new, what’s changing, and what you’ll need to do to be prepared for your upcoming renewal.
What’s New & Different for 2025
Renewal rates for many hosts are going up for 2025. Rate increases are being seen across the board in the insurance industry, but especially in commercial and personal auto insurance. Other providers are implementing large rate increases across the board - we’re taking a different approach. While rate increases are unfortunately unavoidable this year, we’re working hard to ensure we can find ways to save you money and make rates fair for your vehicles.
We’ve outlined some of the changes you can expect at renewal but know that we are working diligently to continue to improve the value of off-trip insurance for Turo hosts. We have several enhancements we’ll be introducing throughout 2025 - all aimed at making it easier for you to manage and run a successful business on Turo.
New Tiers & Smarter Calculations
There are several new elements that will now be used to calculate pricing for off-trip insurance. For some hosts, this will mean their rates are staying the same. For others, rates may increase or decrease based on the vehicles insured. We think it is important for you to understand the most impactful data that will be used to calculate your new pricing. In this guide, we’ll cover: how your state influences pricing, the impact the value of your vehicle has on your price, and how you can take advantage of discounts.
State Tiers
We’re going from a two-tiered state pricing model to a five-tiered state pricing model based on the home address we have on file from your Turo account. This allows us to respond to changes in regulations and ensure that state minimum requirements are met for all hosts with off-trip insurance.

Vehicle Value
Your vehicle’s value will now influence your rate. Practically speaking, this means that a vehicle with a value of $27,000 will not pay the same rate as a vehicle valued at $250,000. We’ve made these updates to better reflect the true risk and potential loss of your vehicle and stay in line with modern insurance pricing innovations.
Please note, these changes are not meant to reward or punish any specific vehicle values. It is designed to better reflect the risk and value of the vehicles in your portfolio.
The Rent More, Save More Factor
We want to reward you for having your cars booked on the Turo platform. To give you the maximum savings, we’ve upgraded our “Rent More, Earn More, Save More” discount to the new “Rent More, Save More Factor.” This is now a rating factor in your updated pricing.
Hosts who have their vehicles rented out more frequently on Turo will now see their rates reflect additional savings. The more your vehicles are rented on Turo, the less off-trip risk there is and our pricing now reflects that!
Please note, this factor takes into account data from the last six months. Your average utilization over the defined period in time is the factor we use to determine whether you’ll benefit from additional savings.

Unlimited Miles on Telematics & Non-Telematics Plans
Get excited! We’re no longer going to charge for mileage overages on our telematics plan. Effectively, this means that you no longer have mileage restrictions, making those long airport runs even easier to navigate!
It is very important to note that even though you’ll no longer have mileage limits, this policy is still only for commercial activity related to your Turo business. That means fueling up, driving to the airport for drop off or pick up, and getting your vehicles serviced are all still covered. Taking the family on vacation, going to the grocery store, or stopping to drop the dog off at the groomers are not covered.
Renewal Billing Process & Timelines
The month before your renewal, you’ll receive an email from Tint alerting you to upcoming changes to your policy. Your policy will auto-renew, so there is no need to take any action as long as you wish to renew. You will continue to be billed at your current rate until your renewal month. During the billing cycle for your renewal month, you will be charged once, per the normal billing schedule.
However, during your renewal month, you’ll be charged your current rate from the first of the month until the day before your renewal. Your renewal date marks the first date you’ll be charged at the new rate and that new rate will continue until the end of the month.
Let’s look at the following example:
Renewal Date = July 14, 2025
In the July billing cycle, at the beginning of the month, you’ll be charged once. That amount will include:
Current Rate for July 1 - 13
New Rate for July 14 - 31
Updating Your Insurance Documentation at Renewal
On your renewal date, please be sure to log in to the Tint portal and download your updated Certificate of Insurance (COI) and ID Cards. As a reminder, your ID cards should be kept with each vehicle. You can find full instructions on how to download your insurance documentation in this article.
How Can I See My New Rate?
We know how important it is for you to be able to see your new rate to make the best decision about your ongoing coverage with off-trip insurance. We’re currently hard at work finalizing rates and trying to reduce the impact on your monthly billing amount.
As always, we’ll send you a reminder of the billing date ahead of time. The day before your billing occurs, we’ll send you an email with the exact rate you’ll be charged, just like we do each month. (Remember, during your renewal month, that amount will be reflective of a prorated amount based on when you renew during the month.) If you’d like more information or want to see your renewal amount sooner, you can connect with our customer support team starting on May 20, 2025. At that time, we’ll be able to share your updated rates with you.
